Fireborn. Crown of Serraphion is the first book in Cullen Kennedy’s epic dark fantasy series. The story follows the protagonist, Leon Rí (formerly Lee Lynch), through a tumultuous journey beginning with his childhood secrets and family tragedy, leading to his forced entry into the mystical realm of Serraphion after his mother is abducted by his secret father, Varric. Leon is reluctantly trained by the Shadow League to become a formidable Shadow Knight, learning combat and magic to fight their enemy, the I-C-A (Invade-Control-Assassinate)organization, a mission that eventually leads him to confront his childhood sweetheart, Marina, who has transformed into the Hell Queen, Infernalia. The text also explores the origins of supporting characters, such as the twin siblings Varric and Venera (formerly Will and Willow Walker), and hints at a prophecy involving Leon’s Phoenix lineage through his mother, Arial, ultimately concluding with Leon’s Coronation as the new King of Serraphion.
