The Nameless Land is a metaphysical novel blending stream-of-consciousness with surreal adventure. Following on from Anastasia’s Midnight Song, it continues the story of Rupert Lux and Anastasia T. Grace-two troubled souls navigating a dreamlike landscape where reality slips.
Rupert, a young New Zealander working nights at a Sinai hotel, is tormented by a daemon lodged in his eye-a delusion echoing Anastasia’s earlier torment by spectral creatures. Anastasia, now blind, arrives in Sinai on a quest for lost treasure, guided by a Spiritualist Society. She longs to heal and to love, and wonders if Rupert might be the one.
But Rupert is pursued by mysterious women who blur into one another and vanish without warning. Haunted by childhood trauma, he doubts he’s worthy of love. Anastasia, calm but conflicted, finds herself reluctantly dowsing for treasure-only to uncover something that carries an ominous charge.
Together, they spiral through hallucinations and shifting realities. Their journey is both outer and inner, revealing deep emotional wounds beneath the chaos. Strange, mystical, and fast-paced, this novel immerses the reader in a disorienting yet compelling exploration of madness and meaning.
