Wanda I. Rivera-Rivera graduated in Comparative Literature at the University of Puerto Rico and obtained her Ph.D. in Latin American Literature at Harvard University. She has taught at Harvard University and the University of Massachusetts in Boston. Cárcel y creación shows her research interests in the politics and poetics of confinement and her creative mark on cultural production, oral history, and the testimonies of writers, visual artists, and insurgent groups that have stood out in armed conflicts and national liberation struggles in the hispanic insular Caribbean. She has published articles on these topics in journals and scholarly volumes.
