After thirty years of pastoral ministry, the Rev. Ted Black is granted an extended leave from his responsibilities. He elects to spend this time reading and relaxing at a lake house on Greer’s Ferry Lake in northern Arkansas. Two weeks into his trip, he is accused of a horrendous crime and then disappears completely. His wife gets no cooperation from the local police when she tries to locate him so she hires a private investigator for the task. The pastor, his wife, and even the investigator are people of faith and pray urgently for Rev. Black’s release, but it seems like God is not listening, or, at least is not answering. No one is prepared for the twists and turns of the investigation, nor can they anticipate what God does in response to their prayers.
