Until his recent retirement, Dr. Gordon L. Iseminger was the longest-serving faculty member-forty-seven years-at the University of North Dakota. Iseminger is a graduate of Augustana College, the University of South Dakota, and the University of Oklahoma. His work has appeared in North Dakota Quarterly, Minnesota History, Agricultural History, Pennsylvania History, The Journal of American History, the Middle East Journal, and the Encyclopedia of the Great Plains. Iseminger has served on the Grand Forks Historic Preservation Commission, and he was named Chester Fritz Distinguished Professor in 2003. Iseminger is the 2015 recipient of the Distinguished Contribution to Preservation of the Cultural Heritage of the Northern Plains Award, presented by The Center for Western Studies. In 2020, his years-long contributions were recognized by the State Historical Society of North Dakota with the Heritage Profile Honor Award.
