Born in the Philippine Islands, Benjamin W. Farley was reared on tobacco and cattle farms around Abingdon, VA. He is a graduate of Davidson College (AB) and earned his master’s degree and doctorate of philosophy from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, VA. As an ordained minister, Farley served Presbyterian churches in Virginia from 1964-1973. Farley was Younts Professor of Philosophy and Religion at Erskine College, Due West, SC, where he taught from 1974-2000. During his tenure at Erskine, Farley was the recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award three times. He is the author of eight scholarly works, two collections of meditations, two of short stories, and author of five novels, a sixth forthcoming. He currently resides in Columbia, SC with his wife, Alice Anne.
