Former Texas Ranger Hugh Rafferty had hoped to avoid conflict when he retired to a small ranch in remote high country. When gunslingers launch repeated attacks on him and his ranch, he figures it is something out of his past. But as clues develop, he learns there is something much bigger afoot.
