Hide and Seek is the first book in The Bairns of Bren series, a spin-off from The Chronicles of Bren. The Chronicles of Bren details the life and adventures of Lee Jennings as he progresses from a country boy to high king of the realm of Bren. The Bairns of Bren follows the lives of Lee’s grandchildren as they embark on missions of their own in Bren. Dennis Jernigan and his wife of 34 years, Melinda, make their home in northeastern Oklahoma surrounded by the forest, ponds, and nature that inspired his fantasy stories. Dennis learned to imagine his own adventures as a boy when he rode his horse through the countryside of the farm where he grew up. Having raised nine children, he learned to entertain them with stories of his childhood. Now he has turned those many stories into a series of adventures for his grandchildren. Jernigan desires to encourage young people with the truth that they are here on this earth for a purpose. Through the Bren adventures, he hopes to inspire them to live their lives with purpose and meaning.
