Going home is never easy; for Mel, it’s worse.
When Mel joined the Army, her father kicked her out. When she finds out he’s passed, she regrets that she’d not pushed to visit sooner. She returns home with haunting memories of Afghanistan, a prosthetic leg, and PTSD. Though she moves home for her mother, it’s also the perfect excuse to lose herself and start over.
Some things about home have changed, like the grumpy llama her mother’s decided to take in. But other things, like Ozzie, who’d been everyone’s high school crush, haven’t changed at all. By going home, Mel’s past and future finally start to come into focus.
