Inspired by the real-life event, Reflections A Struggling Mother’s Walk With God is a testimony of life inside the addiction of a child from a mother’s perspective, and how the process opened doors to a relationship with God. A parent’s worst nightmare began when, at the age of 15, the oldest child started drinking. Caught totally off guard, life starts to spiral out of control for the next 13 years. A close family now becomes strangers in so many ways. Control and manipulation became a way of life, until nothing was the same and all seemed lost. Constant confusion and bitter words were laying heavy on a family of hurting hearts and broken souls. Just when this mother was at the end of her rope and crying out for help, God was there to catch her, and her son, and open doors for healing and restoration. Eyes once blinded by fear and hurt could see with clarity a light at the end of a long dark tunnel. The protective coating of stone around a broken heart, began to melt into songs of healing. Closed mindsets opened-up to new possibilities, and miracles began to transpire. An old life of solitude now flourished with friendships and laughter. God was revealing his plan for restoring this family back to better than before with a new look on life. This new relationship with God breathed life into the heart of this mother and son. The places where she made mistakes became experiences to help others build up their children, marriages, and extended family relationships. God showed this mother her true calling, and how he had been working toward this all her life. She now understood that you can run from your calling for years, but God will never stop chasing you because you have been chosen, and you are perfect for the job. This Mom should know, she ran for 50 years.
