Jace is a twenty-one-year-old guy with a world of troubles. His father is an abusive alcoholic. His mother is never around. He lives in a crowded house with his overbearing older brothers and clingy little sister, which only exacerbates matters and drives him further into his own shell. As if things weren’t complicated enough, Jace has been hiding a drug addiction for years-one so serious that it’s destroying his ability to function and ruining his already strained relationships.
When Jace befriends Katie, his drug dealer’s sister, they grow close quickly. But Jace’s ambivalence about the opposite sex and his continued dependency on pills puts their newfound friendship to the test. Things get even trickier when he develops a friendship with Josh, an older guy with piercing blue eyes and a devastating smile...and it’s not long before Jace realizes his attraction to Josh is more than just physical.
Can Jace find the strength to beat his addiction before it ruins his budding relationship with Josh? Will he find the strength to embrace his sexuality and live life on his own terms? Or will his addiction win out in the end?
That’s Life is a blunt, thought-provoking POV through the eyes of a drug addict as he struggles to come to terms with his true self and overcome the demons that threaten to take everything away from him.
