This is a book that describes the journey of an African American man, transplanted from the Midwest to the Deep South. Rod moved to this quaint, small town. In less than 2 years, Rod ran for and was elected to a seat on the town’s Board of Aldermen. Four years later, Rod was encouraged to run for Mayor and became the Town’s first African American Mayor. It was never an easy journey. There were successes, and there were challenges. This book describes how race permeates every aspect of life in the Deep South in both Black and white cultures. This book is Rod’s account of his time in politics. In his own words.
