As World War Ⅱ erupts in Europe, under Hitler’s brutal Nazi regime, siblings Sara and Icek face an unimaginable nightmare. First, confined within the suffocating walls of a ghetto, they are later uprooted and thrust into a harrowing web of concentration camps, culminating in the horrors of Bergen-Belsen. There, they experience and witness unspeakable atrocities’-starvation, beatings, death marches, and psychological abuse.
In 1945, liberation arrives. Sara and Icek, shadows of their former selves, miraculously find each other amidst the horrific devastation of Bergen-Belsen. Their fragile existence moves to a temporary refugee camp close to the concentration camp, where survivors find some temporary solace.
Sweden extends a lifeline, ferrying holocaust survivors to safety. Hospitals and refugee camps become safe sanctuaries, but stability remains elusive. Sara and Icek, in different camps, exchange poignant letters, weaving a tapestry of hope. As they grapple with their trauma and illnesses, only one will forge a path toward a brighter future.
