Stefan Nowak witnessed a crime over twenty years ago in the last years of Russian occupation of Poland. He and his son are placed in witness protection when the criminals are released against the advice of the police. As Stefan says, "The lying begins bow." There are moles int he police force leaking information about the Nowaks when they are placed in witness protection. No matter where they go or what country, the mafia finds them.
While in prison, the criminals have been recruited into the Russian mafia. They are more dangerous than ever. They want their revenge for the years lost in jail and the perceived safe passage for criminal activities.
Making the situation worse for all involved, the old communist guard in the Russian government is using the mafia as disposable foot soldiers to further their ambitions to retake Poland and ultimately, Eastern Europe.
