Guanaja Chronicles
Summary offered by Vanna Richards, co-owner of Starr Adriatic.
After almost fifteen years fighting two, sometimes three battles with the Cartel in the Bay Islands, we calculated that the possibility of both of us staying alive had dropped dangerously. We sold to Roberto, Lance’s Honduran friend whose father had made it possible as foreigners to buy property in Honduras.
We followed the International Scuba magazine and found a resort on the Island of Rab in the Adriatic. We flew halfway around the world, evaluated it, and bought it. It appeared Lance had been here before, perhaps with a previous girlfriend. That would have been years before me so I didn’t pry. We bought the resort, catering to nude northern Europeans, and got hit with a rogue tidal wave. We adjusted and shortly thereafter, Marko a second university friend and native of Croatia, invited us to his wedding. It would be done thirty feet underwater with scuba and radio/breather apparatus. Friends came with gear, men with tuxes painted on wet suits, women with long dresses that whirled out, very racy, no competition with Petra, Marko’s to-be wife. People settled, and the ceremony started with slates to write the’ I do’s’. A bomb blast hit the gathering, serious injuries for many, Lance and I had disappeared with the tidal wave. Read on!
