Two sisters, Gail and Linda, have been estranged for over five years, only staying in touch through phone calls. Their lives have taken different paths, with Gail returning home due to her boyfriend Derrick’s legal troubles and Linda coming back because their father is in the hospital. During her visit, Linda unexpectedly reconnects with her first boyfriend, Paul, at her home church. Paul has been waiting for a reunion all these years, making Linda reconsider if he was the one she never gave a chance. Initially, Linda left town after school for a better life and ended up in Indiana with Jerome, who showered her with material comforts but failed to make her feel genuinely loved and appreciated.
Gail’s situation is complicated by Derrick, who lost everything due to his troublemaker friend Ben, and is now in jail for a crime he didn’t commit. Gail, forced to return home and live with her mother, wants to keep the real reason for her return a secret. Meanwhile, Linda’s friend Lori struggles with her frugal husband Jerry, who spends money on lottery tickets instead of providing for the family. Lori is frustrated with his stinginess and considers leaving him if he doesn’t change. The story raises questions about whether these men will change their ways and if the women will decide to leave them.
