First in; Last out

A Canadian military veterans autobiography not only documenting his 34 years in the Canadian Engineers, and but when a career ending injury happened at age 51 dealing with the post release struggles, injury pain, depression and PTSD had taken its toll.

The turning point in Greg’s life came in November 2022, when he was paired with Barrett, a Labrador retriever service dog, through the Paws Fur Thought organization. This partnership led to two years of positive reintegration into civilian life. However, their progress was nearly derailed by a traumatic dog attack that severely impacted Greg’s mental health, pushing him to the brink once again. His memoir First in; Last Out documents this rollercoaster journey, and focuses on the strength needed to rebuild his life after service.
