For the past year, Rebecca Winslow’s life has been plagued by one disaster after another: the loss of her stillborn child, the disappearance of her younger sister, and the hopelessness of her toxic marriage to a narcissist who doesn’t understand her grief.

By chance, Rebecca stumbles on a clue in the search for her sister, which leads her to St. Croix. Despite her fears, she boards a plane for the island. En route she meets a singer named Monique LaFleur, a native of the island, who quickly becomes her greatest champion and friend.

Once on St. Croix, she finds her sister lying in a coma under police surveillance because she is a suspect in the murder of a notorious sex trafficker. With Monique’s help, Rebecca advocates for her sister while, unknowingly, altering her own reality in the process.

Rebecca brings her sister home with her, hoping for both physical and emotional healing. What transpires is just the opposite. Spine-chilling discoveries occur, which Rebecca must face in order to be released from her despair.
