I feel old. So damn old. Like the days between yesterday and today have piled on like decades. Like I’ve lived multiple lives.
I look at my crew. What’s left of them.
A kid with a ghost behind his eyes.
A man running from what he saw in a single flash of gunfire.
A boy trying to hold it together with silence.
The forest hunts them. Gleaming eyes watch from the dark. Staff Sergeant Jack Carson is doing everything he can to keep his tank crew alive, but something in these woods wants them broken. Maybe worse.
He tells himself it’s just exhaustion. Just tricks of the mind. But when the trees whisper and the shadows move, Jack isn’t sure what’s real anymore-or if he or his men still are.
He promised them they’d make it out alive. But in this forest, alive may not mean what it used to.
