DION NEUTRA, ARCHITECT Dion Neutra is principal of Richard and Dion Neutra, Architects and Associates of Los Angeles. The firm was founded by Richard J. Neutra in 1926. The operating successor firm is known as Dion Neutra, Inc., also dba Dion Neutra Architecture. Having been born son of one of the 20th Century’s recognized pioneers in architecture, Dion apprenticed in simple drafting and became interested in the systematic approach of his father’s office from the time he was 11 years old. Since then his interest in the field amounts to over eight decades of exposure, development and growth. After a brief period of practice for his own account in the early 60s, Dion rejoined his father’s firm as vice-president and partner. He became principal of the newly re-named firm, Richard and Dion Neutra, Architects and Associates in 1965, and continued to lead it as President since the senior Neutra’s death in 1970. He formed the successor operating firm, Dion Neutra, Inc. in 2001. In the years starting in about 2000, Dion started work on his magnum opus "The Neutras, Then & Later"; a proposed book series outlining the history of most of the firms built projects; an ambitious project, considering nearly 400 projects to cover, among other subjects. The first volume finally appeared in late 2012. He continues to work on the next ones, as time permits. He has also authored some ten other titles and is working on more as we speak. 2014, Dion marked the launch of his newest iteration of Neutra furniture, as well as some other Neutra designed products. In addition, the launch of THE NEUTRA INSTITUTE MUSEUM OF SILVER LAKE; a new initiative of his Institute. Thru late 2017, the museum has hosted over 80 separate art shows, and is booked thru the end of 2018!
