Champion race driver Ryan Forza is killed in the fiery crash of a prototype exotic car, his body never recovered from the debris. In reality, he survived the violent explosion, miraculously cocooned by the car's experimental 'living' skin. As Forza barely clings to life, project scientist Dr. Morgan Bell shields his body with the same developmental substance that had miraculously saved him, convinced that the experimental automotive material that rescued him can be re-engineered not only to protect him, but to restore him. Mysteriously, as the synthetic skin evolves, so does Forza. Workouts intensify as he develops primate-like strength and accelerated reflexes. The new skin makes him nearly impervious to physical injury while the absence of his human skin now makes Forza strangely hypersensitive to the feelings, moods, and intentions of those he encounters. He can read the good in most people while sensing the evil that lies in the hearts of others. His new skin also becomes a barometer of his own emotions, displaying a spectrum of colors from a calm, collected blue to an intense red driven by burning rage. Stripped of his old life and now armed with superhuman capabilities, as "SPECTRUM" Forza devotes his second chance to aiding and protecting those in need... and, in time, to avenge his own murder.
