Yet, so many people struggle with a higher power concept and end up trusting inanimate objects to assist them. Real problems require real solutions. and real recovery requires a functional spirituality. The author's work in addictions spans three decades and has now produced this book to help identify spirituality and how it works within the 12-step structure. A practical explanation simplifies the issue. Maslow's hierarchy of needs is used to illuminate the progressive spiritual steps involved in spiritual growth. Finally, five areas of the brain are identified to illustrate the path addiction takes and therefore, the road that recovery must travel.
