Cycles

Truth is a funny thing in that sometimes it seems that everyone has an opinion for what yours is. In this collection of poetry and prose, ＂Cycles＂, delves into the meaning of what it means to exist for this Filipina-American in modern day America. With influences ranging from the literary to modern day Hip Hop/ R&B culture and mysticism, the collection aims to further project the voices of those who identify as underrepresented in an attempt to further spread love, light, and understanding for the reader and the universe they inhabit.

Queenie Mae Dizon is currently an undergraduate senior at Virginia Commonwealth University, majoring in English while minoring in Anthropology and Religious Studies. She expects to graduate in the Spring of 2018. She identifies as a Filipina-American queer immigrant woman of color. In her ongoing search to further understand herself and the universe around her, her writing is inspired by the experiences of her and her peers, aiming to project the voices of people like her.
