Many of these families came to North America as part of the Great Migration. Therefore, included is a short history of that migration. Mary Andrews Smith has a number of historically significant ancestors including: - Stephen Hopkins - who sailed to Plymouth, MA in 1620 on board the Mayflower, one of the original Pilgrims. - Poet and playwright, William Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway - Several members of the Great Migration - Several Revolutionary War soldiers. Mary Andrews Smith, through her Tuttle ancestors was the cousin of many distinguished Americans including Jonathan Edwards, Aaron Burr, Winston Churchill, Edith Kermit Carow (Mrs. Theodore Roosevelt), Grover Cleveland and General Ulysses S. Grant.
