Of French and English parents, born in Egypt, and brought up in various parts of the Middle East and Africa, Daphne is a spirited and multilingual cocktail. Her true books about driving across Africa are inspired by exciting events and surprising adventures experienced in many countries. Drawing on her experiences as a Headmistress, University Lecturer and Head of a Maths and Science Polytechnic Department, she has also written novels which reveal her deep knowledge and love of the Mediterranean Basin, and of Africa and its wildlife. Now she lives in an eccentric villa in Mallorca where she is able to enjoy many hobbies. Daphne wrote The Seer Spoke when she broke her shoulder and needed sedentary occupation. As her left arm was immobilised, she operated the Shift keys with a wooden spoon in her mouth, and typed with only her right hand.
