Boris Filippov graduated from Moscow Lomonosov State Univerity (Physical departament) in 1975. He then joined the staff of the Pushkov Institute of Terrestrial Magnetism, Ionosphere and Radio Wave Propagation, Academy of Sciences of the USSR (IZMIRAN) in 1975. He received received his Ph. D. (Physics and Mathematics) from Pulkovo Observatory in 1984 and Doctor of Sciences (Physics and Mathematics) from IZMIRAN in 1998. From 2017 he has been a Chief Researcher of the Deparment of Solar Physics and Solar-Terrrestrial Relations.
Boris Filippov published more than 150 referred papers in scientific journals, several books: "The Magnetic Fields of Solar Active Regions " (Moscow: Nauka,1992, in co-authorship with M.M.
