Kevin Simoes Loureiro, Ph.D., is a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, in the department of social work, social policy, and global development. He obtained his doctoral degree in social sciences from the University of Luxembourg. Dr. Simoes Loureiro’s diverse research interests include educational policy implementation, educational inequalities, institutionalism, multilingualism, and early childhood education and care. He has made significant contributions through his publications on institutional language policies and practices, national and European reports on early childhood education, and the importance of students’ language backgrounds in explaining achievement differences in school. His research highlights the challenges and opportunities of multilingualism in both formal and non-formal education, emphasizing the importance of addressing educational inequalities from early childhood onwards and understanding the multifaceted nature of education in multilingual contexts.
