Discourse, gender, and violence: Insights from news and social media texts

This bookincludes contributions to research in the area of language use and gender-based violence (GBV). It demonstrates how the mechanisms of gendered power in news and social media texts operate linguistically in the study of GBV.

Sergio Maruenda is Associate Professor in English Language and Linguistics in the Department of English and German Studies at Universitat de València, Spain. He is also a member of IULMA and the GENTEXT research group. He specializes in the critical analysis of gender-based violence discourses in news media.

Laura Mercé is a part-time Lecturer in the Department of English Studies at Universitat Jaume I, Spain, and a member of IULMA. She serves as a member of GENTEXT at Universitat de València. Her research is focused on the link between discourse and gender-based violence.

Elena Castellano-Ortolà is Associate Lecturer in the Department of English and German Studies at Universitat de València, Spain. She is also a IULMA and a GENTEXT member. Her main research interest lies in the intersection between gender and translation.
