The Semantics of Nominalizations Across Languages and Frameworks

This is the first half of a collection of papers presented at a 2007 workshop at Stuttgart University. The second book deals with the syntax of nominalizations. Rathert (linguistics, Wuppertal University) and Alexiadou (linguistics, University of Stuttgart) select papers that draw from several linguistic theories to look at the semantics of nominals in French, German, Hungarian, Italian and English. The formation of nominals and nuances of meanings are subjected to rigorous, authoritative scrutiny. This collection is technical and knowledge of linguistic terms is expected in the reader.
