A Tuned Liquid Damper (TLD) is a passive supplemental damping device. This book discusses about different types of TLDs and their variations. Parametric study of different types of TLDs is also presented to provide the reader with an in-depth view. This book explicitly presents the effectiveness of normal water and a sugar-water solution in a flat bottom rectangular TLD, and to apply this in scaled down RC frame building model for response reduction. Also, results of a series of tests on such TLDs are presented, varying the water depth ratio, excitation frequencies and amplitudes. TLDs have been tested in a fabricated shake table connected to an actuator. The study presented in this book also demonstrated that flat bottom rectangular TLD can mitigate the building response satisfactorily. Further, the sugar-water solution gives better performance in terms of response mitigation.
