Microplastics in the Refrigerator: How plastics get into our food and how to prevent it

Plastic is everywhere-in the sea, in the air, in the ground. And, as recent studies show, it is also inside us. When you open the refrigerator, you usually see it right away: plastic wrap, cups, cans, bottles. What seems practical at first glance turns out, on closer inspection, to be a silent source of microplastics and nanoplastics that find their way into our food unnoticed. This book takes the refrigerator as the starting point for a journey through our everyday lives. It shows how plastic gets into our food, what the health risks are - and, above all, what alternatives there are. The spectrum ranges from old preservation methods such as fermentation or canning to modern innovations. It becomes clear that plastic-free living is not a sacrifice, but an invitation to experience food in a more conscious, fresher, and healthier way. With scientific depth and understandable language, the book guides readers through the kitchen, shopping, and society. It shows how political conditions, cultural practices, and personal decisions interact when it comes to banning plastic from our diet.
