Matthias Deininger was born in 1978. He grew up and spent his formative years in Germany and Southeast Asia, and therefore, he speaks English, Thai, Bahasa Indonesia and Arabic, in addition to his native language German. He holds a B.A. in cultural studies from the University of Lucerne, Switzerland, and has recently graduated from the University of Bern, Switzerland (M.A. in religious cultures at the Center for Global Studies). As the author comes from a multicultural background, and as he has gathered a lot of extensive travel experience, he has developed a keen interest in understanding other cultures, and the dynamics of cultural globalization processes.
