作者簡介:
Edith Nesbit (伊迪絲‧內斯比特) is born on 15th August 1858 in London. She is one of five children. Her first years are happy because she and her brothers and sisters have a lot of freedom. But when Edith is only three and a half years old, Mr Nesbit dies suddenly. After that the family often moves house and Edith lives in many different places, both in England and abroad. She goes to several boarding schools, but she doesn’t like school life very much.
Edith get married with Hubert Bland in 1880 and move to south-east London. During the next five years they have three children. Because they haven’t got much money, Edith writes short stories and articles for magazines to help the family. Edith’s most famous book is probably The Railway Children, published in 1906. Edith moves away from London to a village on the south coast of England in 1917. She dies there in 1924.
