作者簡介：

Howard Pyle is born in 1853 in Wilmington, America. When he is young he likes to read adventure stories. He is also very good at drawing. When he is older he goes to art school in New York. He studies there and starts to sell his work to magazines. By 1880, he is a success.

In 1881, Howard marries Anne Pool and they have seven children. Howard works as an illustrator and helps other people to write their books. He becomes famous and he writes books too. Two of his best-known books are The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood and The Story of King Arthur and His Knights. Both books are very successful. He draws all of the illustrations inside them.

In 1910, Howard takes his family to Italy. He wants to study painting. He becomes ill and dies a year later in Florence. Today, Howard Pyle’s books are still very popular. The story of King Arthur is still in print and there are many films and cartoons about it.
