Born in London in 1930, Brian Jones attended grammar school, then studied engineering at technical college. Conscripted, he learned the trade of aircraft mechanic with the RAF. Later he took employment in the alkaline battery industry, leaving that in 1976 to become a self employed diesel alternator salesman and technical journalist. A widower with a daughter and two sons, when time permits he enjoys choral singing, cycling and writing. He has published two action spy thrillers in 1978 and 1980, and has written on agriculture, engineering and classical music over several years.
