This textbook is designed to let the learners acquire the skills to communicate in Japanese for social activities. The scenes in which the people must speak in Japanese are chosen as conversation examples. Since the goal for the learners is engaging in social activities, this textbook prioritizes communication in Japanese, rather than focusing on language structure and grammar. The approach is as follows: First, learners try conversations assuming the actual situation, then they learn and practice the sentence patterns used in the example, and finally, they confirm their mastery through advanced practice. The learners can easily understand the sentence patterns after practicing conversations first. Teachers can use most of the time for conversation practice without a long explanation. Also, learners can acquire natural conversation skills more quickly by starting the conversation practices.
