博客來Osamu Sugiyama was born in Tokyo in 1946. He graduated from the Yoshida Hanga Academy, a renowned school for Japanese woodblock prints. His teacher was Toshi Yoshida, the eldest son of Hiroshi Yoshida. Toshi Yoshida taught Japanese and international students in the art of woodblock prints until he became seriously ill in the early 1990s and passed away in 1995.

Osamu Sugiyama consistently continues the tradition of fascination with mountain landscapes has a long tradition in Japanese printmaking. Sugiyama remained an active member of the Yoshida Hanga Academy. The academy supports its artists through regular exhibitions and promotes exchange among woodblock print artists.
