The conservation of biodiversity has become a necessity to the survival of the human being from the perception of the importance of ecosystem services, which contributed to the appreciation of urban ecology, gradually promoting the need for planning and management of green areas. The project aimed to identify and apply effective indicators to verify the condition of biodiversity in the Municipality of Lisbon, create a database enabling the continuity of a line of monitoring studies and implementation of research in areas complementary to the indicators, and the first step towards the goal of increasing the city’s biodiversity by 20% by 2020.
