Family farming is an activity that has become increasingly important in people’s diets and represents the largest source of consumption for the Brazilian population. Family farmers play a decisive role in the production chain that supplies the market, so their best performance is of fundamental importance for supplying the population and generating jobs and income. In the municipality of Barbacena, a large number of families are active in this activity, so the study considered one of its localities, specifically Pombal, which was analysed from the perspective of rural enterprise, providing various data and evidence regarding its development, as well as suggestions for its progress.
