The aim of this study was to investigate how the training and development of managers in the telecommunications sector is configured. Methodologically, it was organised as a qualitative-descriptive study, which used field research as a means of gathering information and knowledge. The instrument used was a semi-structured thematic interview. The research, which was carried out in the branches of mobile phone operating companies (A, B and C) in the cities of Teresina, Piauí, and Fortaleza, Ceará, sought to find out, from the managers’ perspective, the characteristics of the training and development processes for managers in organisations in the telecommunications sector, to ascertain the links between the training and development of managers in these organisations and the ideas on this subject proposed by theorists, and to analyse the relationship between training and development of managers and their organisational strategies.
