Maternal infection with SARS-CoV-2 and the resulting coronavirus disease (COVID-19) are associated with an increased risk of pregnancy complications, including preterm delivery, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, fetal growth restriction and pregnancy loss.This is a retrospective descriptive study of a series of 15 cases of severe Covid 19 infection in pregnant women.The mean age of the patients was 31 years.The predominant symptomatology was hypoxaemic pneumonitis.Delivery was vaginal in 6 patients.Caesarean section was used in 9 patients.The outcome was favourable in 14 patients.The outcome was fatal in one patient.The distribution of COVID-19 in pregnant women followed a gradual increase, peaking during the fifth and second waves, in line with the spread of each variant of SARS-CoV-2.
