Casual Sex: Self-esteem and the search for sexual sensations

This paper refers to a study that investigated the perception of the physical, psychological and social risks of casual sex among university students. A health researcher, she sought to explore the topic of ＂casual sex＂ from a female perspective, taking into account concepts such as self-esteem and the search for sexual sensations. The data found and discussed in this book allows myths and stereotypes about sexuality to be deconstructed. The subject of the study arose from an interest in studying women’s health and gender inequalities. Sexual behavior was a variable that covered both themes. This is because it is a factor related to certain risks to women’s health, and at the same time represents a taboo subject, surrounded by social stereotypes. In this sense, the university is a suitable environment for research. By investigating the perceptions of young university women, it is possible to think of prevention and health promotion strategies to prevent damage and suffering for this and future generations.
