The text is divided into two chapters, which dialogue with the practices of the artistic scene. Chapter One aims to bring the reader up to date with the development of happening, performance art and body art, and some relations with the theatre, especially the transformation of the body into a work of art, where examples can be found in Jackson Pollock, Yves Klein, Allan Kaprow, Tadeusz Kantor, Jerzy Grotowski, among others, who marked the era between the 1960s and 1970s. Chapter Two looks at the procedures of important theatre directors and their relationships and similarities in procedures with performance art and happening, seeking to clarify issues of scene construction in contact with the hybridisation of genres. Resources such as collage and juxtaposition are presented and discussed throughout the text. Procedures for audience participation, the role of the actor and performer, stage space and processes of contemporary stage narrative are discussed. This chapter includes Tadeusz Kantor, Performance Group, Living Theatre, Wooster Group, Gerald Thomas, Teatro da Vertigem, among other examples.
