This paper presents a detailed analysis of the pig production chain in the state of Mato Grosso, as well as an analysis of the effective tax rates of pig farms and slaughterhouses in the state. To this end, taxes are analyzed, their impact on inputs and the effect on the final consumer. The study is aimed at researchers, executives from agribusiness companies, various government departments, consultants and those interested in agribusiness economics in general. What sets this research apart from other literature is the in-depth analysis of production costs and taxation in the production process and the use of the Mato Grosso Input-Output Matrix, built by researchers at the Federal University of Mato Grosso in 2010, to calculate the effective impact of indirect taxes on the final demand for pork.
