The Luiza Nunes Bezerra State School was awarded the School Management Prize in 2013. This award is the result of the work that has been carried out over the last few decades with reading projects, environmental education with materials that would otherwise go to waste and which are transformed into art and auctioned off to revert into resources that are donated, for example, to the Barretos Cancer Hospital, food and nutritional security with school meals. In 2013, UNEMAT (Mato Grosso State University) started working with this school through the PIBID (Institutional Teaching Initiation Scholarship Programme), and the work developed at the school, therefore in partnership with the university, is now presented annually at the ’Scientific and Cultural Exhibition of the Arinos Valley’, which is an initiative of LEAL/CNPq (Laboratory for Studies and Research into the Diversity of the Legal Amazon). Thus, the texts presented in this book were presented at this event with the aim of arousing the interest of primary school students in the study of socio-environmental and cultural diversity.
