Stress, Depression and Alcohol Dependence among migrant workers

This book delves into the intricate mental health and substance use issues faced by migrant workers in Tamil Nadu, India. The study reveals that these migrant workers experience significant stress and depression, largely driven by factors such as social and cultural adjustment challenges, financial instability, and separation from their families.The book highlights a troubling trend: approximately 44% of the participants exhibited moderate alcohol dependence, illustrating a clear link between elevated levels of stress and depression and increased alcohol consumption.
