This book is made up of essays pertinent to the universe of Sexual Identity and Gender Dissidence, Gender Studies and Feminism, covering their history and current discussion in contemporary society. We know that feminist theories and gender studies have been inserted into many areas of society and knowledge, while spreading to different parts of the world. These studies have spread across different areas and academic disciplines and are increasingly appearing in books, magazines and journals. In this sense, this book enters the universe of themes that move through the discourses and cultural values related to women, the female body and its images, the process of constructing the female body as a sexual and market object, feminist theories and taboos and prejudices regarding sexuality and gender identity. The authors seek, each from their own academic perspective, to contribute to those who are interested in introducing themselves to studies on the relationship between Gender and Power.
