School councils in Zambezia province, Mozambique

This paper is the result of field research carried out in the province of Zambezia, where readers are invited to find out more about the School Councils in the Mozambican education system. This is a structure created with the aim of ensuring participatory management of primary schools. The results of the research lead to surprising conclusions about the composition, perception and functionality of this institution, with real implications for the process of transparency and development of the teaching and learning process.
