Public and Private Management in Primary Health Care

This work involved the topic of Primary Health Care (PHC), which, although not common in Brazil, has been used for a long time in the Unified Health System (SUS). It is a very important tool used to reorganize care in various specialties. Faced with the difficulties faced by the public health system, the primary care program really is a cost-effective way of providing better care to users, not just limited to a single, exclusive service, but to monitoring patients throughout their lives. Given the importance of this topic, this study aims to compare the PHC program in public and private institutions, in order to show the benefits of its use. These benefits refer to the user’s quality of life, a reduction in premature mortality rates due to avoidable causes, a reduction in costs and a better balance in the supply of medical services. In addition to the bibliographical studies, an interview was conducted to verify and learn about the process of implementing the program in a private institution.
