Over centuries, Jewish thought has evolved through various philosophical movements, including Hellenistic, medieval, and modern Jewish philosophy.In antiquity, figures like Philo of Alexandria sought to harmonize Jewish theology with Greek philosophy. During the medieval period, scholars such as Maimonides and Saadiah Gaon engaged with Aristotelian and Neoplatonic ideas to reconcile reason with faith. Jewish philosophy often grappled with the relationship between divine revelation and rational inquiry, leading to debates between rationalists and mystics.This work serves to trace this part of independent Jewish history through its own literature, stopping with the Babylonian Conquest at the end of the First Temple Era.
